The decision to use a 48v@190A alternator instead 12v@430A provides a 75% increase in charging capacity, but requires the ability to control the current across the 48v to 12v Voltage converter . The APS 3000 is a 3000 Watt Bi Directional Buck Booster with a CAN interface that support the CAN Specification 2.0b / ISO-IS 11898. The Bi-Directional nature allows for the transfer of energy between the 48 and 12 volt system.I am looking to take advantage of a new feature in the TAO BMS that allows multiple BMSs on the same CAN network in a master slave type configuration. There by allowing a BMS on the 12v start bank and a BMS on the 48v house batteries bank both be able to communicate there need for energy to buck booster. I believe this feature is part of the plan release of implementing the OSEnergy (Open Systems Energy - derived from the RV-C standard) CAN protocol . I am hoping the partial implementation of the CAN Specification 2.0b / ISO-IS 11898 will enable the control of the 3000 W 48v to 12v buck booster. I assume the BMS can be upgraded through software/ firmware to support these new features.
